Lin Zy Awarded 2014 Martial Artist of the Year!

The Romanelli’s International School of Martial Arts recently awarded Lin Zy the 2014 Martial Artist of the Year! Lin Zy is no stranger to Martial Arts. In fact, the Aladdin 3477 Producer is bringing some of her chops to the movie, both as the lead visual choreographer and playing the role of “Oomi” who is said to have a hand in some of the film’s more intense action scenes.

Beginning her Martial Arts studies at the age of 8, Lin Zy has no problem with letting it known that her initial inspiration into professional fighting skills was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. “Donatello was my favorite.” comments Lin Zy, “Still is.” She began her training in Tae Kwon Do, where one day she would achieve a 2nd Degree Black Belt.

Currently, Lin Zy has switched her Martial Arts training to an entirely new style, Japanese Shorinjiryu Karate. “Tae Kwon Do focuses on kicks, which is my forte, so I wanted to try something a little different and challenging.” observes Lin Zy. “Shorinjiryu has very little kicking in it, so I couldn’t have picked something more opposite in style. Plus, it was very humbling to start over at the very beginning, a white belt like everyone else.” While having to relearn technique, she has advanced in the past years at an incredible rate.

So much so, that the Romanelli’s International School of Martial Arts gave her such an incredible award. Lin Zy exclaims, “I was so shocked, but wow, I couldn’t be more honored to have this. Martial Arts is about so much more than fighting. It’s a disciplined way of life, infusing mind, body, and soul. I can’t think of a bigger honor in my world.”

With this energetic talent bringing her skills to Aladdin 3477, we can’t wait to show you the thrill ride she is helping design for you to enjoy. Hiiiiyah!
