MEET THE JINN OF WISDOM: AARON GOLEMATIS!

As the cast of Aladdin 3477 was recently announced, one of the characters that fans have really been intrigued with is the Jinn of Wisdom. Now you get to meet the incredible talent behind the Jinn and shed some light on the mysterious character!

Aaron Golematis (also known professionally as Aaron G) is an award winning music and video producer, as well as a professional voiceover/voice actor. He is the founder of the band Omni, AaronGTV, A2-Studios.com and Independent Music Media. Known in the independent community as a rising authority on multi and social media marketing, Golematis gives lectures on the mindset of today’s modern consumer, music philosophy and techniques to industry globally.

Unlike the rest of the cast who auditioned, Writer/Director Matt Busch claims that the role of the Jinn was written with Aaron Golematis in mind. Busch elaborates, “One of the biggest hurdles of doing this live-action version of Aladdin was how to approach the Genie. I wanted something new and fresh for the character, and for years that was the roadblock in pushing the project forward. That all changed the day I met Aaron. He was actually one of the very first people I ever told about the movie, way before it was announced. I knew if I didn’t have Aaron on board with this, I didn’t have a movie.”

So what exactly is a Jinn of Wisdom, and how does it differ from a Genie? Keeping an element of mystery, we can’t tell you. However, Busch is happy to tell you what it is not. “The Jinn is not a goofball. He doesn’t appear out of blue smoke, nor does he double-blink and nod his head before performing magic, and he never breaks out into song and dance.” While Busch is a fan of what Robin Williams brought to the table for Disney’s Aladdin, he sees no reason compete with it. Busch comments, “That was great fun, and we are also trying to do something extraordinary with the character that audiences will love, but it’s a completely different direction. This story is for more of a sophisticated audience. Our Jinn of Wisdom is more of an Obi-Wan Kenobi of sorts who guides Aladdin. There’s a lot of thought-provoking material we hope audiences will take home with them.”

This is not like any Aladdin tale you’ve seen before. There is real depth to these characters. I love this story!”

Golematis is a fan of the Arabian Nights’ tale, and is excited to be a part of this take on it. He observes, “Aladdin is probably one of my favorite kind of stories. It’s an important lesson of perspective. On one hand, a classic rags-to-riches fairytale. At the same time, Aladdin is an epic adventure of a seemingly ordinary person with the potential to change the world. Who doesn’t love that?”

How will this new version of Aladdin inspire audiences? Golematis provides some insight, “This is not like any Aladdin tale you’ve seen before. There is real depth to these characters. I love this story! It also asks some very interesting questions. Of course the proverbial ‘If you had one wish, what would it be?’ There are few questions that give as much insight in to a person’s psyche. But perhaps more importantly, ‘Is one the product of their environment? Or does one produce their environment?'” Clearly, in addition to the action and entertainment, Aladdin 3477 will deliver on intellectual aspects.

Previous, Busch and Golematis have worked on several projects together, in particular an animated parody titled Power of the Force Girls, which was created by Busch’s wife and Aladdin 3477 Actress and Producer, Lin Zy. The cartoon is a mash-up between Star Wars and Powerpuff Girls, where Busch provided some of the art and animation, while Golematis provided the voice for the nefarious villain, Major Grievance (a cross between Mojo Jojo and General Grievous.) Busch and Lin Zy have also provided art for several Blastwave FX Sound Effects Libraries that Golematis has been involved with, all produced by Ric Viers who happens to be the First Assistant Director, Production Supervisor and of course, Sound Designer on Aladdin 3477. It’s a small world, after all.

What is Mr. Golematis looking forward to most seeing on screen when Aladdin 3477 debuts? “One word. ‘Bang.’ That’s all I’m gonna say!” Fans with keen eyes of previous reports may have clues with what he is referring to.

In addition to the movie, Aladdin 3477 will be a multimedia experience branded and licensed into many products. What other areas is Golematis excited about? “I’m a bit of a geek this way, but I would really like to see this turn to print. Whether it be traditional art, or graphic novel, the characters are so interesting and the back stories and sub plots on everyone are too awesome not to share.”

Some final words of wisdom before shrouding the character back into mystery until the film’s release? “You guys don’t know how long we have been keeping this stuff quiet! I just can’t wait to share it with all of you.”

Stay tuned for more!
